HYPE is a radio program that airs on Takoma Radio every Wednesday night at 10 pm on 94.3 FM in the Washington, D.C. area. Takoma Radio is a non-profit radio station with an audience of 250,000 listeners in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area through its live FM, online, and playback audience. HYPE merges current events, health news, pop culture news, sports news, and social media content to provide unique and informative dialogue to the listeners. We also heavily support our local musicians, artists, and creatives which is especially visible in the selection of our on-air guests.
As a fast talking radio program, HYPE flows through consists of the following four segments: Let's Talk, MedTalk,The Spill, and The Huddle. With voices often missing from mainstream news, we discuss current events and news headlines during our Let's Talk segment. MedTalk provides the latest health news and breaks down misconception in health care all in an entertaining, yet informative manner. We deliver commentary on the latest pop culture trends, celebrity news, and more in The Spill. The Huddle features sports news, profiles on athletes, and a variety of topics examined through thought provoking debates.
HYPE internships are available year-round. Non-paid internships are available for school-credit for students at area colleges, universities, and training programs. HYPE coordinates well with program advisors to ensure school credit. Serious HYPE internship applicants are asked to submit resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
